Birthday Dinner

So for my twentieth birthday this year I decided to have dinner with twenty of my closest friends in southern California. Thanks to some special friends, we made a pasta dinner and set up a quiet dinner in Jeff's apartment. It was such a blast. Here are some pictures.

Creations

After five exams in the past week, I needed some time to relax. So I got out my cricut and went to work. These are two cards I made, and some gift certificates I made for Photography by Donya.

Weekend in San Diego

This year I spent my Easter weekend in San Diego, California. I was invited to spend the weekend with my best friend Amanda and her family this weekend. We spent the weekend hanging with her family, shopping, and eating great food!!

I forgot my camera so I don't have any pictures, but I had a great time and a wonderful Easter Sunday. I hope everyone else had as much fun as I did.

Another update: Our intramural softball team is now 3-0!! I've been playing infield (second, short, and third) mainly, and outfield every once in awhile. We're having a blast!!

Three tests this week...pray for sleep and memory!

Until next time.

A True Titan Fan

A true Titan fan can withstand blistering heat, freezing cold, victory and defeat without a single complaint. A Titan fan is made up of 3 parts blue, 3 parts orange, 3 parts heart, and 1 one part insanity. A true fan will cheer for anything blue and orange, and nothing black and yellow. When you bleed blue and orange, you know you're a true fan.

Our group of friends has supported men and women's soccer, men's basketball, baseball and softball this year. We've become notorious to the school athletes, the event staff, and opposing teams. All the while sharing our Titan spirit...go CSUF!!

Enjoying the New Life

Thank you to everyone who supported me in this rough patch of my life. I feel like my life is definately back on the rise now. After reaching an all time low, I can finally say that I'm moving up again. Its so wonderful to know you are in the thoughts and prayers of those who feel for you.

For the update: my new roommates are really great. Everyone in our suite is getting along and its great to be able to go home and not enter a hostile environment.

I know these experiences have been a true test for my life. And although its an everyday healing process, its a work in progress.

As for me, I just got another wedding invitation job, school is kind of boring as usual, and intramural softball starts in two weeks! I'm keeping busy and just enjoying being a normal college student again.

Until next time...

Back to the Basics

Brianna's Basics:

Friends
Family (& Tilly)
Food

The Three F's that make up my complex. As I begin the monotonous days of class after class in my fourth semester, I'm going back to the basics. Life is so much simpler on the playground in Kindergarten when its "Hey want to be my friend?" "Sure!"

I almost wish I could go back to simpler times, where coloring in between the lines was the hardest homework you had, and Mom and Dad were there to make decisions for you. Funny how it works in life, by the time you want nothing more than to have everyone else make decisions for you-- you're the only one who can make your decisions. But what if I make a wrong decision? Well that is when all I need is the basics-- my friends, family and food.

I recently heard a quote that "If you don't do it right the first time, try reading the directions." This quote is great because you realize you have to keep trying, and there is always something to help you out.

Just clearing my head today...

Almost Over

What a winter break its been. After a rough semester I could not have been more ready for a break from school. This break has been wonderful and busy, balancing working (creating wedding invitations), redecorating my room, family, friends, and sleep. I feel refreshed and replenished and ready to attack another semester of school.

A high note of the breaking was the reveal of a straight A semester, my first for college. After struggling with some classes this semester its always a joy to see your hard work pay off. I feel ready to dive into a new semester with three business classes, and possibly more pending registration on the 11th (finger's crossed).

My Dad helped me layout my classes, and therefore my life, for the next two years (sticky-notes were involved) I realized that I have a lot of work left to do in college! But I'm excited to see where my schooling will take me.

I take off for So Cal on the 16th so I'm doing my best to enjoy my time left and prepare myself for whats coming up.

Hope everyone had a Happy New Year!

It's a Wonderful Life

Unlike my last blog, things are going really well. Mainly because I am at home feeling the love and support of my family and friends. Yes, I am back in Chico, CA enjoying the rain and Christmas-like atmosphere. Christmas is a big deal for our family and I'm excited that my favorite time of the year has come around.

I am blessed with many things this year including:

- A great job and awesome coworkers
- A loving family
- Supportive friends
- A dog always ready to listen
- A house (with a great fireplace)
- and A heart that is more excited to give this year...than to receive.

I hope that all of you have a very Merry Christmas, may your families be as blessed as mine.

Until next time...

Gravity

A perfect song for my current condition...

Gravity is working against me
And gravity wants to bring me down

Oh I'll never know what makes this man
With all the love that his heart can stand
Dream of ways to throw it all away

Oh Gravity is working against me
And gravity wants to bring me down

Oh twice as much aint twice as good
And can't sustain like a one half could
It's wanting more
That's gonna send me to my knees
(repeat)

Oh gravity, stay the hell away from me
And gravity has taken better men than me you see now how can that be?

Just keep me where the light is
Just keep me where the light is
Keep you me where the light is
Just keep me where the light is
Ohh… where the light is!

Its hard to find the light when things seem so dark... but there is one source of light that remains constant

Midterms are Over

Well its been awhile hasn't it? Basically right now my life consists of school, RA stuff, homework and sleep. I check my email early in the morning and late at night when I have time. Its 12:31am right now; I'm on duty because its Thursday, so I just got done with my second rounds. It was all clear on the homefront, some noise here and there but no biggy. I have a feeling tonight is a 2am caller night though, we'll have to see.

I just finished my midterms today. I've done pretty well on all of them, but I already have round two coming up in about two weeks. I feel like I'm living in a never ending cycle called college.

I am excited about my recent success at a program I hosted for the residents. A colleague and I hosted a program called 'iStress', designed to inform students about stress management. A professor from the CSUF kinesiology department spoke and we served Olive Garden to the residents. We had 80 resident attend, one of the best turn outs so far! It was encouraging to see something you work so hard on turn into a real success.

For now, my main priority is sleep. Goodnight everyone.

Oh, and in case I forget, Happy Birthday to my Dad on the 15th, and my Papa on the 13th! Love you guys!

Full Swing

Well classes are in full swing. No more teachers letting you out early because they want to take it easy for the first few classes... more like teachers trying to cram too much information into a limited about of time... until the clock ticks and they cannot legally keep us captive anymore. Yes the countless hours of poor fellows who strut and fret their hours upon their own stage have regretfully begun again.

I have been lucky the past two weekends to be able to travel home and have time away from school and RA work, which seem to combined take all of my time away from me.

August 25th, my Dad flew me (and my brother) home to see my Mom and suprise her for her 50th Birthday. Suprised cannot accuratley describe the scene that took place. Shock is more appropriate for the emotion on my mother's face as she turned the corner of our home to see 40 of her closest friends led by my brother and I, there to celebrate with her.

The pictures show everything (Credit: Donya J. Walling Photography [http://www.donyajwalling.blogspot.com/])

September 1, Jeff's Dad provided the funds for Jeff and I to ride a train home to Chico for the Labor Day weekend. A generous act on his part led to a great time for Jeff, Jesus (a fellow RA from Pomona we brought with us) and me. We spent a lot of time with friends and family for an overall fun, yet exhausting trip. We had quite a few laughs though.

Pictures of the three of us goofing around on Labor Day weekend.

With school back into high gear, its hard to find time for myself. I find any free time is taken up by extra RA activities; such as: supporting my fellow RAs and their programs, planning my own programs, visiting residents, and many other things. I am hoping to find time to update this weekly.

I hope this finds everyone happy and healthy.

Until next time.

Later days.

Tomorrow is the big day!

Well I figured I would check in today because tomorrow is the big day... Resident's move in. I'm excited yet nervous at the same time. It should be fun to get to know some new people and finally put all the things I've been learning in training the past two weeks to use. Today is our final day alone as a staff. There's almost a nervous tension amongst us, everyone I think just anxious for tomorrow to be here. But I'm actually only on break from training. I'll check in once everything is settled. Cross your fingers, that everything runs smooth!!

Thanks.

Settled In

Well I'm back... in Fullerton that is. And back to posting semi-annual blogs. The first of course is the tour of my new room. I'm finally moved in and settled and got some shots of everything. So welcome to the online 25 cent tour.

First I live in Acacia 305 now, its a single room so I'm all alone in there. Which is good I guess because there is NO WAY two people could fit in that space.

This is what you see when you open my front door (which has a doorbell by the way)
IMG_0792.JPG
When you stand in our living room there is an opening to the kitchen, this picture is from the living room looking into the kitchen.
IMG_0794.JPG
This is the living room standing at the sliding glass door.
IMG_0795.JPG
The sliding glass door leads to our balcony, since I'm on the third floor again. This is the view to the left.
IMG_0809.JPG
And the view to the right
IMG_0810.JPG
Here's my bathroom, its the larger of the two, hey I got to choose.
IMG_0796.JPG
I didn't take pictures of the hallways because there was stuff in the way. But now here is my room. First is when you're in the hallway looking into the room.
IMG_0798.JPG
That wall is the side of the closet. To the left we have...
IMG_0799.JPG
everything else. Thats the bed and my desk and there are two windows in the corner one on either wall. The bed has four drawers underneath that you can't see.
IMG_0800.JPG
This is the wall directly across from the door and the bed. And here is the closet from the other side.
IMG_0802.JPG
And the closet has a door so it can close.
IMG_0804.JPG
This an organizer for some storage on the back of my door.
IMG_0805.JPG
This is my fantastic view.
IMG_0806.JPG
From the left window...
IMG_0807.JPG
and the right...
IMG_0808.JPG
So there it is in all of its grace and glory. The dorm room for '06-'07. You're welcome to come visit I do have a couch.

For those of you interested. RA training is going really well. I'm learning things but also getting to know my partners in crime a little better as well as the campus and the job that lies ahead of my this year. Hope everyone is well.

Until next time.

Later days!
